Traditional recipes, delicious beers

From lagers and other session beers, to the more unusual options for the beer adventurer. We brew what we want to drink. Getting to share our favourite brews with you is a bonus.
Every ingredient is included for a purpose, to add depth and layers to the flavour and experience without adding gimmicks. These recipes are a combination of our own invention and recipes that have been used by brew masters across Europe for generations. Some of the recipes are hundreds of years old and have stood the test of time, appreciated by beer aficionados throughout the ages and now by our local beer community.
We have 14 taps available - so 14 different beers available for you to sample. Some of the brews are regulars but most are one-offs or limited editions because there's so many recipes to try and we want to drink them all (and give you the opportunity to sample too of course). We even have two traditional hand-pumps that are the ultimate way to experience traditional English beers.

About Time

5.0%
Kölsch
ABV

The traditional cold-fermented ale of Cologne, an easy drinker with the initial characteristics of a lager but the softer, rounder finish of an ale.

Hefe'Rye'zen

4.7%
Wheat and Rye Ale
ABV

Banana flavour and aroma yeast characteristics, finishing dry-sweet with a slight rye spiciness.

Gösebusters

3.9%
Göse
ABV

This traditional take on the style, based on the Göse I had at Leipzig, is simple, tart and tangy with coriander and salt, and incredibly quaffable!

Bam-Brosia

5.0%
Rauchbier-Helles
ABV

Bam-Brosia is our take on the traditional drink of Bamberg, Germany. A prominent bacon-esque beechwood smoke aroma and flavour mellows out with the sweetness of the malt to make a very sessionable beer.

Der Fürst

5.0%
Viennesque-Lager
ABV

The brewer's favourite child, this lager is an almost-vienna Lager, a bit maltier than the traditional Bavarian Helles, with a slightly toasted malt character to provide a nuanced yet easy session beer.

Bock

6.6%
Bock
ABV

A Bock is a strong, malty lager. Similar to a Scotch Ale, it is darker, and has rich raisiny/plum malt character, but as a Lager, has a drier finish.

Happy Chappy

5%
ESB
ABV

A slightly carbonated, easy drinking English-style ale with caramel and biscuit malt character.

Deutsche-Indien Pale Ale

7.0%
German IPA
ABV

An experiment with all German ingredients. Hopped with Mandarina Bavaria and Huell Melon, Cologne and Munich Malt and fermented with Kölsch yeast, this is a bitter yet crisp old-style IPA with a german twist.

Beevom

12.8%
Pseudo-Mead Barleywine
ABV

Beevom is a take on dry-unsweetened mead. 50/50 Honey and Malt, the honey is allowed to mostly ferment out, then stalled to leave just a hint left. The results is a suprisingly light bodied and dry barleywine with a hint of honey aroma and flavour and low bitterness. Dangerously easy to drink, considering the high ABV.

Mrs Brown

5.1%
Brown Ale
ABV

A moreish dry biscuit, almost porter-like brown ale.

Schwarzer-Ritter

4.9%
Schwarzbier
ABV

The Black Knight is as Black as Night! This Schwarzbier is a Black Lager. Progressing layerings of darker crystal malts finished with some midnight wheat and some balancing bitterness make for a very easy drinking beer.

Itty Bitty

3.1%
Table Saision
ABV

Based on the beers brewed by farmers for their farmhand in France and Belgium, this is easy drinker is dry, spritzy with a primarily yeast driven flavour profile.

Our on-site brewery

Armed with our knowledge of traditional beer brewing techniques and recipes, our on-site boutique brewery will make even the most discerning beer drinker a bit giddy with excitement.

We keep the ingredient list simple, true to the German beer origins, and where possible we incorporate traditional serving and brewing equipment too. Our hand pump beer taps for example are the only way to get a proper experience when drinking traditional English beers, they have a lower carbonation and keep the beer a bit warmer so the flavours are rich and creamy - it feels just like being at an English tavern, or a German beer hall.

How to buy

We don't do mass packaging or supply to bottle shops so if you want to sample our brews here's how you can do it:

  • Come in to the brewery and drink at the beerhall

  • Find us on market day for your takeaways

  • Buy takeaway from the brewery in our reusable and refillable bottles - bring them back in for a top up when you're ready.
